Keep You from Falling. August 15, 2008

Unto Him who is able to keep you from falling (Jude vs. 24). The joy of climbing trees! In the days before video games and cable networks with 200 channels, I remember, as a child, how much my brothers and I loved to climb trees. To us it was the great adventure. When we conquered that big oak tree in the back yard, you would have thought we had conquered the world! We did not always realize the dangers because we did not plan on falling. There is so much hope in this promise given to us today by God's word. We do not have to fall! For some failure is a forgone conclusion. They have great confidence in their ability to make a mess out of their life. Some people are so convinced that they will fall again that they don't even try to climb anymore and they have lost the joy of life. As a child I did not realize that as we were climbing our muscles were becoming stronger and our confidence was growing, it was making me a better person.
If you have lost your joy, if you confidence is weak, or if you just need to feel better. Get out and live today, do something that you love to do, do something that you have dreamed of doing, ask God to bless you and don't live in fear of falling. It will make you a better person.

Not only does our confidence grow but also our faith. And as our faith grows we begin to step into what our real purpose of being on planet earth is; to glorify God with our lives, to please him by advancing His kingdom. So if we really want to know God's will is for our lives we have to live (to step out on that limb), whenever we feel the spirit nugging us.
Thank you for the reminder, because the things that God wants for my life I cannot do on my own I have to step out in faith and He will enable me to do them! This way He gets the glory not me.
